Marmosets (commonly known as “finger monkeys” or pygmy marmosets) are incredibly demanding, high-maintenance exotic pets that require a massive long-term financial, physical, and emotional commitment. While their tiny size and cute faces are appealing, they are wild animals with highly specific biological and social needs that are exceptionally difficult to replicate in a home environment. 🐒 Essential Social and Behavioral Needs

Mandatory companionship: Marmosets are highly social herd animals. They must be kept in pairs or groups at a minimum to prevent severe depression. Human attention cannot replace a monkey companion.

Aggression at maturity: While affectionate as infants, adult marmosets frequently become unpredictable and aggressive. They are prone to biting, scratching, and attacking owners when their wild instincts take over.

Territorial scent-marking: Marmosets communicate by scent-marking. They will rub highly pungent secretions and waste over their enclosure, furniture, and occasionally their owners. 🏡 Habitat and Enclosure Requirements
